Founded in 1999, Living Arts is a non-profit organization that engages Detroit youth, teachers and families in transformative experiences in the performing, visual, literary and media arts.

Through artist residencies in schools across Detroit and robust out-of-school offerings focused in Southwest Detroit, we increase youth’s academic achievement, develop their leadership and artistic skills, and strengthen our schools and communities. A Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts affiliate since 2013, Living Arts has a roster of 10 Detroit Wolf Trap teaching artists serving over 1,000 children ages 3 months to 6 years annually in Detroit classrooms.  In addition to Detroit Wolf Trap, Living Arts offers In School Arts-Infused Education programs to hundreds of elementary and middle school students and teachers across the city as well as a thriving out-of-school arts program for youth ages 3 months to 18 years at the Ford Mexicantown Mercado.
