Bianca Cuevas is a dedicated and passionate individual, born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Southwest Detroit since the 90s. Throughout her life, she has been deeply involved in her community, prioritizing connections with youth and advocating to nurture creative thinkers who will contribute to the well-being of their community. She firmly believes that allowing children to connect with their roots is of utmost importance, and she actively works towards fostering parental involvement, as she believes it is the foundation for building a strong community.

As a second-generation Mexican-American, Bianca takes pride in her cultural heritage, specifically from the region of Los Altos Jalisco, Mexico. Fluent in Spanish, she embraces her language skills as a means of bridging gaps and ensuring effective communication within diverse communities.

Bianca graduated from the Arts Academy in the Woods, where she pursued a theater major and a minor in show choir. Recognizing the significance of understanding child psychology, she furthered her education at Madonna University, focusing on this field of study. She played a pivotal role in creating a bilingual program for students at a K-12 charter school. By implementing this program, she empowered students with the tools to seamlesslynavigate two languages and cultures.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Bianca is also an avid photographer. Additionally, she dedicates her spare time to teaching quinceañera dance choreography, allowing young girls to embrace their cultural traditions and celebrate their coming-of-age milestones. Furthermore, Bianca's proficiency as a master of ceremonies showcases her ability to engage and entertain audiences during these celebrations.

With her deep-rooted connection to her community, her linguistic skills, and her diverse expertise, Bianca Cuevas strives to empower the next generation and foster unity through cultural understanding and community engagement through the arts.

Q: What is the most memorable or most impactful art experience you've had as an adult?

A: Completely coming full circle and understanding the mural Diego Rivera painted for the DIA, I had seen it many times while growing up in the city. However, it wasn't until later that I truly grasped the depth of emotion and meaning behind it. Learning about the pain and loss Diego Rivera experienced during his time in the motor city, as well as the challenges of being an immigrant in a different country with his wife, made the mural extremely relatable to me
