To that end, we provide exceptional and relevant youth arts education programs led by professional artists that engage and inspire youth, families and teachers in Early Learning, K-12 Classrooms, and at our Out-of-School Arts location in Southwest Detroit.

On a moderate Sunday afternoon, families, friends, and supporters gathered at Cass Technical High School for the Living Arts 20th Annual Student Showcase. The program opened with Program Manager, Zack Bissell, who welcomed the audience and thanked the event’s supporters.

In the 45 minutes window between school and rehearsal, I met with 5 young women at the FREC-Mercado. In preparation for their upcoming 20th Annual Student Showcase, we sat down to talk about their history with Living Arts, and the role the organization has played in their lives.

RENEWED PARTNERSHIP SUPPORT COMES FROM VERA AND JOSEPH DRESNER FOUNDATION

Living Arts is proud to announce a $40,000 grant award from the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation. This partnership will provide 100 free enrollments  for youth and children in Southwest Detroit to access Living Arts’ Out-of-School Arts program.

As the Detroit Affiliate of the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, Living Arts’ brings arts education to Head Starts, pre-school classes and the community for youth 3 months to 5 years.

after-school arts education

We offer a wide array of after school classes and workshops in dance, visual art, video animation & production, digital music and open studios for teens. No one is turned away for inability to pay, as we offer discounts and scholarships for those in need.

k-12 arts education 

Our teaching artists take arts-integrated education to schools K-12 in Metro Detroit, supporting the core curriculum and training teachers to utilize the arts in the classroom.

We bring the best of our students’ work and present professional Detroit artists to the community! Our events, such as our popular performance series Teatro Chico, regularly offer a hands-on art experience.
