Living Arts offers visual, performing, literary and media arts education programs for youth in elementary and secondary schools. Our in-school programming includes:
In-school arts residencies and classes directly support students' learning in English language arts, math, science and social studies by integrating those subjects with artistic learning. For arts-infused education programs, Living Arts teaching artists work closely with classroom teachers to develop performing, visual, literary or media arts lessons infused with their grade-level standards for ELA/math/science/social studies. (Offered during the school day, after school, and in summer school.)
In-school arts residencies and classes which focus primarily on developing students’ artistic skills in performing, literary, visual or media arts, while strengthening their overall school engagement and approaches to learning. (Offered during the school day, after school, and in summer school.)
In-school arts offerings also include teacher professional development workshops and parent/family workshops to train teachers and parents in arts education strategies to support student learning.
Living Arts’ in-school teaching artist team includes Spanish-bilingual artists and artists experienced in teaching English language-learning youth and youth with disabilities.
Our arts content is informed by the National Arts Standards which encourage students to not only create art, but to learn to communicate their ideas, think critically about their work, and connect what that work to the world around them.
