Jesse Boyd-Williams is an award-winning Detroit-based actor, writer, director, and voice-over artist. He earned his B.A. in Theatre from Wayne State University in 2025 and made his professional directorial debut directing Broke-ology by Nathan Louis Jackson at Tipping Point Theatre. He assistant directed Confederates by Dominique Morisseau directed by Goldie Patrick at Detroit Public Theatre 2025; For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When Then Rainbow is Enuf by Ntozake Shange directed by Billicia Charnelle Hines at Wayne State Unviersity in 2024; Blood at the Root by Dominique Morisseau, launching the Underground Theatre Company’s summer 2024 season.

He is a 2017 graduate in vocal studies from Detroit School of Arts, where he received rigorous training in classical, jazz, and choral ensemble music. His notable achievements include winning the 2023 Black Theatre Networks’s StudentQuest Monologue competition. He served on Black Theatre Network’s executive board as Undergraduate Liaison in 2023-2025. His TV/Film credits include; BMF (Season 2), No Sudden Move (2021); Why Me!? (2022); Listen to the Silence (2022); and I Declare War (2014). His theatre credits include; Covenant (Detroit Repertory Theatre); Blues for an Alabama Sky (Detroit Public Theatre); Chicken & Biscuits (Wayne State University); The Magnolia Ballet: Part 1 (Williamston Theatre); Hastings Street (Ploweshares Theatre Company); A Raisin in the Sun (Detroit Lighthouse Theatre); Dreamgirls (Detroit Actors Theatre Company); Broke-ology (Detroit Actors Theatre Company); Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet (Wayne State University); The Lightening Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical (Underground Theatre Company); Rocky Horror Show (Wayne State University); and In the Heights (Toledo Repertoire Theatre).
